Hai An Signs Contract to Build Two 7,100-TEU Container Vessels – A Strategic Leap Elevating Its Fleet to the Regional Stage

The contract is executed through Hai An’s newly established joint venture, Hai An Green Shipping Lines Co., Ltd., founded in August 2025 based on the partnership between Hai An Transport and Stevedoring Joint Stock Company (HATS) and Vietnam Container Shipping Joint Stock Corporation (Viconship).
The joint venture aims to invest in large-sized container vessels and expand operations on long-haul international routes.
The signing of this contract demonstrates Hai An’s long-term investment strategy, its commitment to fleet expansion, and its strong progress into the medium-sized vessel segment to enhance competitiveness in the regional maritime transport market.

According to the plan, the two vessels will be delivered in June 2028 and September 2028, respectively. Hai An also retains options for two additional sister vessels at the same price, with the following key specifications:
•    Capacity: 7,165 TEU (4,164 TEU on deck; 3,001 TEU in hold)
•    Deadweight: 81,000 tons
•    LOA: 255.00 m
•    Breadth (moulded): 42.8 m
•    Depth to main deck: 24.6 m
•    Design draft: 12.0 m
•    Reefer plugs: 850
•    Main engine: EVERLLENCE 6G80ME-C10.5, Tier III
•    Service speed: approx. 20 knots at C.S.R. (90% MCR – 23,040 kW × 69.5 rpm).
Notably, the vessels will be equipped with Alternative Maritime Power (AMP / shore-to-ship power), exhaust gas cleaning system (scrubber), and are Methanol-ready for future green fuel conversion - fully aligned with the global trend of “fleet decarbonization” and increasingly stringent international maritime environmental standards.

Earlier, in May 2025, Hai An signed a contract to build two 3,000-TEU container vessels with Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.
Only six months later, Hai An has advanced directly into the 7,100-TEU segment, approaching the international definition of medium-sized container vessels - clear evidence of the Company leadership’s vision to develop a strong and modern container fleet.
The signing of the two 7,100-TEU newbuildings not only expands the scale and capacity of Hai An’s container fleet but also signals a positive outlook for the competitiveness of Vietnam’s logistics industry within the region, particularly as demand for medium-sized container vessels continues to surge on both domestic and intra-Asia routes.

This strategic move affirms Hai An’s aspiration to elevate the Vietnamese maritime transport brand to the wider ocean and contribute to the modernization of the national maritime and logistics sectors.
