At 10:18 GMT (17:18 Vietnam time) on February 25, 2025, at the anchorage of Piraeus Port - Greece, representatives of Hai An Transport and Stevedoring Joint Stock Company (HATS) and Hai An Container Transport Company Limited (HACT) signed a contract with partner Thales Navigation S.A of Trust Company Complex - Marshall Islands and successfully took delivery of the 1,700-Teu container ship named HAIAN ZETA. This was an important milestone when Hai An welcomed the 17th member to join the Company's container fleet.
HAIAN ZETA (formerly named ATOUT) carries the flag of Liberia with parameters as follows: IMO number: 9354648, length: 182.52m, width: 25.2m, deadweight: 23,978 tons, capacity: 1,702 Teus, draft: 10m, maximum speed: 19 nautical miles/hour. ZETA was built in 2010 in Germany and registered by Lloyd's Register (UK).
The crew moved from the anchorage of Piraeus Port - Greece to take delivery of HAIAN ZETA, at 16:30 (Vietnam time).
Thanks to the additional investment in the HAIAN ZETA ship, Hai An's container fleet has grown to 17 units with capacities ranging from 800 to 3,500 Teus, a total capacity of 28,200 Teus and an output of around 1 million Teus/year. The fleet accounts for about 68% of the total capacity of the country's container fleet, holding a firm position in the world’s top 100 largest container fleets (according to Alphaliner).
HAIAN ZETA was added to the fleet as part of Hai An's strategy to elevate capacity and open intercontinental routes in the near future.
After completing legal procedures, registration, etc., HAIAN ZETA will be leased by partner Sealead based on a time charter contract. She will sail on the route that calls Türkiye - Spain - Morocco - Greece.
Recently, besides promoting the fleet's self-operation, Hai An has actively cooperated with major shipping lines worldwide that lease ships to operate routes in the Middle East, Mediterranean, etc., using time charter contracts. This strategy not only helps reduce the pressure of oversupply for the fleet but also creates an important premise for the Company's goal of opening intercontinental shipping routes and targeting potential markets such as the Mediterranean, Europe, and the US West Coast.
HAIAN ZETA’s main engine.
Hai An's continuous investment and fleet expansion affirm the Company’s commitment to improving transportation capacity, expanding operational scale and gradually reaching out to the world, bringing the Vietnamese maritime transport brand to a new level.
