KOREA Marine Transport Corporation has teamed up with SITC to launch a new Japan-Thailand service from next month.
Four 1,800 teu vessels will be used on the new service, to be VTX3, according to a company statement.
In February, the South Korean shipping company joined hands with its domestic rival Namsung Shipping to roll out a new South Korea-Japan-China service.
That service will utilise three 1,000 teu vessels, one from KMTC and two from Namsung Shipping.
Separately, KMTC partnered with regional shipping firms in October last year to launch a new service connecting China, Pakistan and the Middle East.
At that time, the company teamed up with Thailand’s Regional Container Lines, Hong Kong’s Gold Star Line and TS Line and South Korea’s SM Line.
Dubbed the China-Middle East Express, the service will be operated by six vessels in the 5,000 teu-6,500 teu range.
Port rotation on the VTX3 service will be Nagoya, Tokyo, Kawasaki, Yokohama, Shanghai, Ningbo, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, Laem Chabang, Ho Chi Minh City and Nagoya.
