RCL expands service network in India

THAILAND-based container line RCL has added another string to its network in India with the launch of a new service between Calcutta and the key Malaysian transhipment hub of Port Klang.
The new service, called RCH8, will deploy two vessels — the 628 teu Ora Bhum and the 750 teu Chana Bhum — in an 18-day rotation.
The maiden voyage will start with Ora Bhum on March 16 from Port Klang, followed by Chana Bhum on March 25.
RCL expects the launch of the service to be well received in the market. The intra-Asia specialist currently owns and operates a fleet of 50 vessels with sizes ranging between 200 teu and 6,621 teu and an owned container fleet of 110,100 teu.
